Map of Boston colleges and universities [May. 2nd, 2009|01:11 pm]

I've lived here for about 30 years and I still stumble over some new college or university in the area almost every year. Wikipedia (actually wikimedia) has this great map of colleges and universities in Boston and apparently there are still a few I hadn't noticed, such as Labouré College. It's only of the ones inside Route 128, so some promiment schools, like Wellesley College, are not on it, but finally I can see where they all are in the middle of the city! Click on the map image for a larger version.

And some have changed their name while I wasn't looking. When did Bentley become a University?

That's not even everything inside 128. There are others farther north that aren't on the map.

Why, what's missing?

Northeastern has a suburban campus in Burlington that's just within 128, but that map doesn't go that far north.

Endicott, Gordon, Salem State, the two North Shore Community Colleges, Montserrat, but the map doesn't go that far north.

OK. I forgot about the cluster of schools in the Salem area. But anyway the Wiki's map doesn't claim to cover everything within 128; we said 128 here on b0st0n cause it goes that far west.

That map would have to be really, really big to include Salem.

60 Lowell Street. The carpentry and historic preservation programs moved there a while back.

That is very close to the Old Schwamb Mill. Did they move there for that reason?

Suffolk University is 3 buildings behind the State House, and it's on the map.

It's more than that, as they also have a big Law School building on Tremont Street, and a dorm on West Street. Maybe others too that I don't know about.

It's there and clearly labelled in orange, on Route 9 near Brookline Village.

Yup, I see it now. I must need glasses. It's a cool map anyway.
