Fire at MGH? [Dec. 21st, 2007|09:19 pm]

Okay b0st0n, help me out:

Anyone know what the deal is / was with the fire at MGH tonight? I was on (I think) the last red line train passing through, and as we did, I could see a couple of fire fighters, a little smoke, and a HUGE line of traffic on the bridge. (Where my train was stopped for what felt like at least 15 minutes. In fact, two guys in my car where trying to tell drivers on the bridge that there was a fire ahead.) Details anyone?

(After the BC train mess on Wed., I am a little tired of random T issues, which is silly I know because, well, it's the T.  :P )

There was a text flash on the TV on...whatever channel I happen to have on...saying that there was a fire on the Lonfellow Bridge causing delays and "more at 11" That's all I know so far, but haven't looked it up yet either.

I was actually on an outbound train that was evacuated because of the fire. It was under the inbound platform and by the time I saw it, looked like a small bonfire pouring up from the tracks. What I found hilarious was all the people still walking up onto the outbound platform as all of us were being ushered off. Also funny was how, as I walked through a cloud of choking smoke, hearing the announcement say "For the safety and comfort of your fellow passengers, no smoking please."

It's nice to know that in case of possible emergency the MBTA will be on top of things and not have conflicting instructions. :P
