when you say "from Boston" do you mean from Boston-Boston or do you mean like, anywhere in east Massachusetts, except the Cape, which is what most of us mean when we say "from Boston" when we talk to people not from around here.....?

HA. I'm from the Cape and I used to feel self conscious and say "The Boston area." But I lived in Newton for 4 years and now I live in Arlington, so I feel a little more legit.

Oh, cool, I'm not the only one who thinks Central Square is awesome! (A local-grown friend looked at me like I'd said I thought Hitler was a nice guy - yes I went there - when I said, "Central Sq. is my favorite area here!" but I think it's because I did not know it in the bad old days, and he did.)

I do remember it back then! And while I do mourn the demise of a few places (RIP, Cambridgeport Saloon) I picked it as my favorite because it's where we end up going to see a show or eat more often than any other part of the city.

i actually really like central square too, i don't even know why - i just don't like the giant gauntlet of crack dealers/users and men that harass you that seems to accumulate as soon as the workday ends.

i've spent a lot of time in various really bad neighborhoods both here and in RI, and yet this is the only place i've felt legitimately unsafe.

it's funny though, you turn the corner and walk about 50 feet and it's a world of difference and one of my favorite neighborhoods to walk around.

Good point, I hadn't even thought of that. I'll add that as a question in the next poll I do. Thank you!

Glad to see others share my disdain for the financial district. Though City Hall is a close second.
