Thank you, Northeastern University for the 5:50 wake up call to inform me that classes were cancelled today.

Just one question, since I don't go to, nor ever been a student or faculty member of Northeastern University, why did you decide to call me? And how'd you get my cell phone number?

I mean, I was already up getting ready to go to work early, but I'd be pretty pissed if I was sleeping like I normally am at 6 a.m.

I got that call too. Then I discovered my office was still open.

Here's the president's email. Anyone have his home phone?

Don't you people appreciate anything?

How busy do you think the package stores are gonna be when they open this morning?

I'm personally SO HAPPY to be awake, considering I work at home and don't get up until 9 usually (because I go to bed at 1 AM).

WTF.

Normally I'd just say you have a cell number that's one digit off from a student's, but it sounds like you're not the only one. Weird.

That's pretty funny. Oh Northeastern with your wacky cases of mistaken identity.

That's weird. They set up that automated call system like 2 months ago and "confirmation" was required to receive those calls.

I got one too, and an email...I assumed it was because I am my brother's emergency contact and he goes to Northeastern.

Turns out you're correct. I have a friend who used to take night classes and I asked and she had me as the emergency contact.

Thanks for helping me figure that out. I may have come up with that on my own latter today, but logical assumptions are not something my brain is up to before 6 a.m.

Yes. My mom in New Jersey got a phone call on the house phone, her cell phone, and an email at work informing her that Northeastern had a snow day today. I mean, that's great that the system works so if there was a school shooter everyone would know, but for a snow day it seems a little extreme.

Wow that is extreme ... I wonder how many parents from warm weather called their children in hysterics "OMG ARE YOU OK?????? THERE'S SNOW?!!!"

Hah, my mother (in Louisiana) would absolutely have done that. And my grandmother.

My mom (also in Louisiana) would just want to make sure I had some food stockpiled, as though I've been cut off from all grocery stores for many days.

My mom lives in MI so she sees snow but anything on the news about a storm out here and she calls me in a panic asking if I'm ok.

Maybe they're just not that smart. I mean, this is Northeastern we're talking about.

Didn't get that, but did get a robo-call about a half hour ago from some company wanting to know if they had successfully delivered a Yellow Book phone directory.

Ha ha, that's nothing. A few years ago, I was in my senior year of college in Florida. I was walking to class, and I got a call on my cell phone saying "Hi, this is so-and-so from School of the Museum of Fine Arts. We're just calling to let you know that you missed your scheduled portfolio review with Professor So-and-So, so you need to reschedule." I had applied there 4 years ago and was accepted, but I ending up going to Ringling School of Art and Design. I guess my phone number must've stayed in their system and someone with the same name as me must've missed their portfolio review.
