Free Hugs This Saturday, November 3rd

It's getting cold, no better time for free hugs!
We are meeting at 1 pm outside of the pit T stop/ Out Of Town News in Harvard Square, and plan to move around. If it gets too cold or if it rains, we will move to North or South Station, or the Airport.
Bring signs and friends.

Saturday's forecast is for the remnants of Hurricane Noel to pass through here. Probably not a good day for any kidn of outdoor activity.

A few posts down, some people suggested that you should set up next door to Fred Phelps's hate demonstrations on Sunday.

Oh man, i have the perfect candidates to hug mr. Phelps, except one is in Texas and the other is in Michigan.

I like the idea of hugging around Phelps to counter his hate, but is it better to just ignore people like that?

I don't know if hugging or ignoring would help. I don't know if anything would help. I think those people are insane.

there's a whole post about it a few down that best describes how the free hugs being there came about. it was a whole long thing about taking away their power, etc, etc. it's worth a read if you get a moment. also, it's a rather hilarious post to read.

Well, either way would be good, i think. They protested my high school graduation, and the counterprotestors just peacefully showed up and were so much bigger than them. It was great.

Here are my thoughts on what I would send my clone army to do to the Phelps crowd:

go hug those fucks, then start up a blasting soundtrack of Prince songs. start grinding like it's sophmore year in high school.

go hug the fuck, then whisper lovingly into our WBC friend's ear. "I'm gay. I have the HIV. And I'm passing it on to you."

dress up like gay zombies, and chase them with our gay zombie blood (like normal blood, but with GLITTER!)

or in light of their spanking by the courts this week:
carry around picket signs:

"lawsuits are gay"
"the body of christ compels me, but not in a sexual way"
"god hates folks who hate fags"
"will hate for $$$"

Thanks for the heads up on both accounts!
I suppose plan B it is for Saturday. I'm sure lots of people could use hugs when their flights/trains/buses get delayed or cancelled.

And it looks like we are building up quite a team for Sunday. Will you come?

I don't know if you'll get this in time, but I'd be very cautious about trying to touch any of the WBC crew...they're eager to scream lawsuit, and unwanted touching can be considered assault, even if you're not meaning to hurt anyone. THey make their money off suing people/municipalities/anyone.
