Boston.com doesn't have the whole story up yet. Neither do the websites for WFXT (Fox), WHDH, WCVB (ABC), WLBI (the WB) or WBZ (CBS).
The only thing I've seen is this Boston.com blurb, courtesy of copy-and-paste from the top o' the website: MBTA ALERT: Orange Line passengers are being bused in both directions between Forest Hills and Ruggles stations, due to an incident at the Green Street station.
I live very nearby, and I heard what sounded like shots followed quickly by sirens just before 9pm last night, although that could have been a car backfiring followed by some unrelated police call.
I feel like that would have been too early in the night for it to be causing a problem now. Especially since I was coming home after 9:00 last night and the trains went through Green without a problem.
hmmm now i'm not so peeved that i couldn't take classes during the summer
although i'm losing my patience with the orange line anyhow because it sucks whether it harbors dead people or not. thank god the 51 bus goes to cleveland circle/riverside, too
A man was killed this morning when he was struck by an Orange Line train while walking along the tracks south of the Green Street station in Jamaica Plain, said Joseph Pesaturo, spokesman for the MBTA.
The investigation is ongoing and the identity of the man is not yet known, Pesaturo said.
The man apparently walked off the station platform and was struck by a northbound train around 6 a.m., Pesaturo said.
The man had travelled about 200 feet from the station when the impact took place, Pesaturo said. It was not immediately known why the man was walking along the tracks, which are powered by a third rail, he said.
Pesaturo said the man's injuries were consistent with being struck by the train and coming into contact with the high voltage third rail.
Orange Line service was shutdown for about 2 hours and 20 minutes and buses were used to shuttle passengers, he said. Regular service resumed around 8:20 a.m. The operator, as required under MBTA and federal transportation rules, is undergoing drug and alcohol testing, Pesaturo said.
This used to happen with NJT trains in Jersey all the time, too. Especially in the summer wiht kids and fishemen standing on bridges ow walking track to get to fishing hotspots and swimholes along the rivers.

Thinking of the train man
Oh man, my heart goes out to the poor driver. I know he or she must be going through hell right now.By the time the driver saw the person on the tracks there was no way they could avoid hitting him. So now this driver has a man's death on his soul.
